Lotus Sutra Exhibition Held in Tokyo

From March 25-31 and April 5-May 6, 2012, the exhibition “The Lotus Sutra—A Message of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence” was held in Tokyo at the Ikeda Auditorium at Soka University of Japan in Hachioji, Tokyo. This exhibition was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of Oriental Philosophy (IOP). Approximately 150 participants, including Dr. Chandra, director of the International Academy of Indian Culture, Professor Mushirul Hasan, director-general of the National Archives of India and Kyuzo Kato, Emeritus Professor of the National Museum of Ethnology in Japan, attended the opening ceremony. The exhibition contained some 150 items that introduced the history and transmission of the Lotus Sutra.



During the ceremony, IOP Director Yoichi Kawada and Soka Gakkai President Harada delivered greetings. Professor Hasan and Emeritus Professor Kato celebrated the 50th anniversary of the IOP and the opening of the exhibition.
