“The
Flowering of the Lotus Along the Silk Road” Exhibition Held in Macau
From June 22-29, 2007, “The Flowering of the
Lotus Along the Silk Road” exhibition was held at the
Lou Lim leoc Garden in Macau, previously held in Hong Kong as “The
Lotus Sutra—A Message of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence.”
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition held on June 22, Tam Vai Man,
Vice President of the Administrative Council of the Civic and Municipal
Affairs Bureau in Macau, offered his congratulations and voiced his
desire that the exhibition would bring cooperation and hope to the
citizens of Macau. Messages from the Institute of Oriental Philosophy
(IOP) founder Daisaku Ikeda and Chinese
University of Hong Kong Professor Emeritus Jao Tsung-I were introduced.
Among the guests attending the opening was National People’s
Congress representative Chui Sai Peng, who expressed his appreciation
to the organizers and the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) for providing
the opportunity to see the
many rare items. Another guest, Liu Xiaohang, director of the Publicity
and Cultural Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central
People’s Government in Macau, stated his belief that the exhibit
conveys a spiritual message that the Lotus Sutra is of vital importance
in the contemporary world.
