Lotus
Sutra Exhibition Held at Delhi University, India
The
exhibition “The Lotus Sutra—A Message of Peace and Harmonious
Coexistence” was held at Delhi University, India from February 6-7,
2009. At the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Satya
Vrat Shastri, eminent Sanskrit scholar and recipient of Padma Shri
Awards; Wenchyi
Ong, representative from Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India;
and
Prof. Bhikshu Satyapla, head of the department of Buddhist Studies
conducted a
ribbon cutting.
At the exhibition, there were some
students from Delhi University
taking notes of every displayed panel. Others seemed to be interested
in the historical fact that the Lotus Sutra was translated in various
languages and contributed to happiness and prosperity of the people in
each region. One of the Ph.D. students commented on the facsimile
version of the Lotus Sutra Manuscripts Series and stated that the
exhibition was very valuable for humankind. He said that he was
encouraged to know one of the peace movements of Soka Gakkai and the
Institute of Oriental Philosophy (IOP).
