Lotus
Sutra Exhibition Held in Argentina
On September 25, 2014, the exhibition
“The Lotus Sutra--A Message of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence” was
held at the Universidad del Salvador (USAL) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. On
display was the Lotus Sutra Manuscript Series, Sanskrit
Lotus Sutra Manuscripts from the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of
the Russian Academy of Sciences, Facsimile Edition (2013) and Gilgit Lotus Sutra Manuscripts from the National Archives of India, Facsimile Edition (2012), which are the clear color facsimile editions of the precious manuscripts published
by the Soka Gakkai and the Institute of Oriental Philosophy (IOP).
Photographs and panels introducing the history and transmission
of the Lotus Sutra were also shown.
Guests at the official opening included Dr. Juan José Cresto, president of the Argentine Academy of History, Dr. Francisco Delich, director of the Daisaku Ikeda International Center for Peace Studies (CIDIEP), and
other guests from the Universidad del Salvador (USAL). At the ceremony,
Mr. Daisaku Ikeda, founder of the Institute of Oriental Philosophy
(IOP) and president of the Soka Gakkai International (SGI) was awarded
a commendation from Universidade Salvador in recognition of his
contribution to the development of oriental studies and his efforts to spread a philosophy of peace throughout the world.
